We get a number of questions regarding the Arts Supplements and the recordings that students submit along with them. We try to answer as many as possible below, but of course you can contact the department chair or any of our faculty anytime if there are questions we have not anticipated.
1.
If you wish to submit performances on different instruments, composition, jazz or classical style, etc. it is very important that each instrument or activity be recorded on a separate CD and clearly labeled. We have over 30 faculty that review the recordings in the various areas and it is not possible for the CD to be efficiently passed along to two or more faculty.

2.Mark each recording clearly, i.e., Jazz Piano, Classical Piano, Composition, Soprano Voice, etc. You will see from our faculty list that we have faculty teaching both Jazz and Classical styles in voice and many instruments, as well as music composition. Therefore, it is important to label each recording clearly so it will quickly be routed to the appropriate instructor.

3.We do not have strict policies in terms of repertoire, timing, etc. Our best advice is to remember that this is the way for us to know more about your musical abilities and experience. Make the best quality recording that you can (on CD, not DVD) and show your best playing. One slow and one fast selection is enough, but don’t worry too much about the length. If you are still concerned about what repertoire, please contact the appropriate instructor.

制作CD 而不是DVD,最好的作品呈现出来。长度不必刻意。一个快曲，一个慢曲就好。

4.Please do not send DVD’s as they will not be reviewed.

DVD 根本不会被看。

5.Include a brief resume of your musical activities, lessons, ensembles you have played in, prizes or awards, etc. Letters from teachers are accepted, but not necessary.

6.Application deadlines can be found on the Admission Department website at http://www.williams.edu/admission/apply_appinstructions.php. Do not send your materials directly to the Music Department. 请不要直接把材料邮寄到音乐系
