1.1 IRUA的奖学金

KU的Office of International Recruitment and Undergraduate Admissions（IRUA）提供三种奖学金给大一的国际学生——KU-IIE Undergraduate Tuition Scholarship, Jayhawk Generation Scholarship及Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship 。这些奖学金是merit-based，也就是说是提供给表现出色的优秀学生的。下面总结一下这三种奖学金的申请要点。

 

KU-IIE Undergraduate Tuition Scholarship

这个是KU联合Institute of International Education (IIE)一起授予的奖学金。每年可以拿$22,000，最多可拿4年。获奖者不仅要有优异的学术成绩，还需要有出色的领导力。该奖学金面向的是持F1或J1签证且申请秋季入学的国际学生。每年有25个名额。申请该奖学金的学生不能同时申请其他IRUA的奖学金。申请该奖学金需：

1）  在1月15日前提交完整的入学申请并交齐所有材料

2）  GPA需达到3.5/4.0

3）  目前的课程安排

4）  托福的阅读、写作、听力部分都在23+或者雅思总分6.5且单项不低于6

5）  提交SAT或ACT分数。虽然并不是所有专业都需要SAT或ACT，但SAT或ACT会给申请奖学金带来帮助

6）  提交课外学习总结，包括课外活动、学生组织里的参与、领导力、社区服务、获奖经历等。描述其中三个活动并说明为什么这三个活动对你来说是有特殊意义的

7）  从以下选项中选择一个话题并以此写一篇不多于500个单词的短文

a.        Your personal and academic goals and how you hope to achieve them at KU

b.       Your field of study and specialized interests within this field

c.        The unique perspectives you hope to gain in the U.S. and how, upon your return to your home country, you intend to use the skills, knowledge, and experience you gain here

d.       A topic of your choice. Your essay must demonstrate writing and critical thinking skills

8) 提交推荐信

 

Jayhawk Generation Scholarship

该奖学金也是merit-based。每年可拿$4,572 到 $11,675不等。正如该奖学金的名字所示，只有当学生的父亲、母亲、继父、继母、祖父、祖母、继祖父、继祖母或法定监护人之一是KU的毕业生时学生才有资格申请该奖学金。除此之外，学生SAT的数学加阅读部分的分数需至少达到1090或ACT总分至少达到24。GPA需达到3.5/4.0。该奖学金不能与其他奖学金同时申请。欲申请该奖学金必须在1月15日前提交完整的入学申请并交齐所有材料。

 

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

该奖学金是“一次性”的。面向的是从美国社区学院转学去KU的Phi Theta Kappa成员。申请该奖学金需：

1）  在2月15日前提交完整的入学申请并交齐所有材料

2）  在社区学院完成了36个学时且GPA不低于3.75/4.0

3）  尚未获得学士学位

4）  来自Phi Theta Kappa导师的Confirmation of Membership Form

 

1.2 院系奖学金

如果学生有资格申请院系奖学金，IRUA会将学生的申请转到相应的院系。一般来说，院系奖学金的竞争非常激烈，学生只有在被录取之后才会被告知有竞逐奖学金的机会。大多数时候，学生只有在KU完成一至两个学期的学习后才会受邀申请院系奖学金。下列院系都为新生提供院系奖学金：

1.3 外部的奖学金

除了上述的奖学金种类外，还有种类繁多的外部奖学金可申请。这些外部奖学金的要求各不相同，这里就不一一赘述了。详情可参考下面的链接：

特别提醒：通过快捷方式申请KU，如国际大一项目/AAP（相当于本科桥梁课程）同样有机会获得奖学金，额度是$5,000或$10,000。申请要求包括1）成绩80%； 2）托福60或雅思5.5；3）提交自荐信；4）通过面试
